Q: My child was nominated - now what?
A: Congratulations! You should have received an email from the President detailing the program, expectations, and tryout schedule. You must complete this Commitment Response ahead of attending tryouts. Teams will be posted here with the players who are selected after being evaluated at tryouts.
Q: What is the schedule for tryouts, practices, and tournaments?
A: Please click here for the tryouts, practice and tournaments schedule.
Q: What about “ski week” - is it ok if we’re out of town that week? And even if our school's week is different from that at other schools?
A: Yes, no problem. A coach may still hold practices that week but you are not expected to attend if you are out of town. Any other planned absences should be run by the coach in advance.
Q: What if we are unable to attend our assigned tryout time?
A: The best chance of making the team is by attending your assigned tryout time. If you absolutely cannot attend that session, or are sick the day of, please email the All Star Coordinator(s) to see about potentially attending another session for a brief private evaluation.
Q: Can parents/guardians watch the tryouts?
A: Unfortunately, no. However, please be present for a brief meeting with the All-Star Coordinator(s) immediately prior to your tryout session for an important overview of the program.
Q: How many players will be on each team?
A: Typically 10-12 players will be on each team.
Q: Should we book a hotel room for the final tournament dates? And for one night, or both nights?
A: The All-Star program culminates in a travel tournament which is a great team-building experience. If possible, we suggest booking a hotel for both Friday/Saturday nights. We will let you know about getting a block of rooms at the same hotel which makes it fun for everyone involved to be at the same location for team dinners, hangouts, etc.
Q: Will playtime be equally distributed during games/tournaments?
A: Given that the All-Star season is similar to a highly competitive AAU program, a coach will try their best to make sure each player plays during the games, but unlikely in more equal time segments compared to the regular FYB season.
Q: Are there any other expenses we should be aware of besides the program fee?
A: Please expect there to be parking charges at the tournament locations, as well as $10-20 entry fees per person not playing.
